Our Mission       It is the mission of the Humane Society of Marion County  to prevent animal cruelty and to promote the humane care and treatment of animals; to make available to our residents educational programs, spay/neuter assistance, and to aid the community in controlling the pet population.

HSMC in the NEWS! In May, 2008, HSMC received a check for $3921.00 from Bill Gleason, Marion County District Attorney.  These much-needed and much appreciated funds were received as a result of proseuctions in the latest dog fighting ring arrests in which HSMC provided support and animal assistance for the local authorities.

Meet Snickers! HSMC has, on permanent loan from a member, a very large rabbit. “Snickers” is taken by trailer and presented at the many events held in Jefferson, Texas, as well as other locations, for photo opportunities.   A contest was held which was sponsored by our local paper, Jefferson Jimplecute, and Wal- Mart Super Center, Marshall, Texas, to name the six foot tall rabbit. Snickers will be used to raise funds for emergency medical treatment.
